September saw the start of the pilot phase of a public gigabit Wi-Fi access point on the famous Fan Mile in Berlin, Germany. HUBER+SUHNER is providing Wi-Fi antennas and coaxial cables, thus playing its part in enabling users in the area to surf, chat and stream for free for 30 minutes.

I. INTRODUCTION

Modern information and communication technologies play a fundamental role in the activities of HUBER+SUHNER. We respect the privacy concerns of the visitors to the HUBER+SUHNER websites and the recipients of our e-Newsletter service. We conduct our business in compliance with applicable laws on data privacy protection and data security.

This Privacy Policy explains data collection and use practices of the www.hubersuhner.com website (HUBER+SUHNER AG, Degersheimerstrasse 14, 9100 Herisau (Switzerland) and Tumbelenstrasse 20, CH-8330 Pfäffikon (Switzerland) and of all other websites of our subsidiaries (hereinafter referred to as: the “Sites”) as well as of our e-Newsletter service; it does not apply to other online or offline HUBER+SUHNER sites, products or services. By accessing the Sites, you are consenting to the information collection, use, safeguards and sharing practices described in this Privacy Policy.
 

II. PERSONAL DATA

Personally identifiable data may be collected by HUBER+SUHNER when website visitors voluntarily provide this information, for example if the visitor registers for our e-Newsletter or uses our online enquiry forms.

The personal information we collect may include your name, title, gender, company or organization name, your job-function, e-mail address, phone number, fax number, address, and information about your company.

We do not collect information about our visitors from other sources, such as public records or bodies, or private organisations.

Our Sites do not enable our visitors to communicate with other visitors or to post information to be accessed by others.
 

III. AUTOMATIC COLLECTION OF INFORMATION

The Sites may automatically collect certain information about your visit, such as the name of the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and the Internet Protocol (IP) address through which you access the Internet, the date and time you access the Sites, the pages that you access while at the Sites and the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our Sites. This information is technically generated and could conceivably relate to personal data. This data may be linked with personal data and used for technical administration of the Sites, research and development or marketing purposes and used to help improve the Sites and analyse trends.

To the extent that your communications or utilization data are collected, processed and / or used this will be performed in accordance with the applicable laws on data protection.
 

IV. E-NEWSLETTERS

We provide a regular information service in the form of an e-Newsletter. The e-newsletter is only sent to voluntary subscribers.

When registering for our e-Newsletters, you need only to enter your e-mail address and the country you are located in. The provision of any other personal data is optional.

When you choose to opt-in for additional marketing activities by ticking the tick-box “Yes, I agree” placed next to the question “Do you allow us to contact you also with other marketing activities?”, you need also to enter your company name, address, city, postcode and phone number.

If you subscribe to our e-Newsletter we may use cookies, customised links or similar technologies to trace if you open the e-Newsletter, to track e-mail links you click in the e-Newsletters received, etc. Tracking helps us to tailor the e-Newsletters to better match your needs as well as to generally improve the performance and relevance of the e-Newsletter. This technology is a tool we use to compile aggregated statistics about HUBER+SUHNER e-Newsletter usage, such as how many visitors clicked on key elements (such as links or graphics) on our e-Newsletter. We may share aggregated statistics with partner companies. This data may be linked with personal data and used for technical administration of the Sites, research and development or marketing purposes and used to help improve the Sites and analyse trends.

Each e-Newsletter contains instructions on how to discontinue receipt/unsubscribe. Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter may also opt-out of receiving these communications via the form on our page unsubscribe or through alternative means of communications provided at the bottom of this Privacy Policy.
 

V. PURPOSE SPECIFICATION

HUBER+SUHNER may use personal information to provide you with more effective customer service, to improve the Sites and any related HUBER+SUHNER products or services, and to make the Sites easier to use by eliminating the need for you to repeatedly enter the same information or by customizing the Site to your particular preference or interests. We may use your personal data also to respond to your enquiry or to give you information and/or offers about our products and/or services and also, to support our business relations with you. Therefore, we may:

(i)  store and process data within the HUBER+SUHNER group to better understand your business needs and how we can improve our products and services for you; and/or
(ii)  use personal data to give you information about our products and/or services; and/or
(iii)  use personal data to contact you about an offer relevant for and in support of your business needs.

In order to offer you a more consistent experience in your interactions with HUBER+SUHNER, information collected by HUBER+SUHNER Sites may be combined with information collected by other HUBER+SUHNER services. Therefore, we may share, store and process personal information collected on the Sites within our HUBER+SUHNER group companies in Switzerland or in any other country in which the HUBER+SUHNER Group maintains facilities, and by using the Site, you consent to any such share, storing, transborder transfer and processing of information within the entire HUBER+SUHNER Group. We will respect your choice if you choose not to have your personal data shared, stored, transborder transferred or processed within the HUBER+SUHNER Group. Therefore, we offer you the opportunity to opt-out via the form on our page unsubscribe or through alternative means of communications provided at the bottom of this Privacy Policy.

We may also use your personal information to support our customer relationship with additional marketing activities (e.g. direct marketing). Additionally, we may send and / or share information with HUBER+SUHNER partners in Switzerland and also abroad, for example agents, distributors, suppliers etc., so they may send you information about their products and services. Our partners are required to maintain the confidentiality of the information and are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose and in any case to act exclusively in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the applicable laws on data protection. We will respect your choice if you choose not to have your personal data used to support our customer relationship with additional marketing activities, nor send and/or shared to/with HUBER+SUHNER partners. Therefore, we offer you the opportunity to opt-out of such additional marketing activities and of sending / sharing your personal data to / with our partners via the link "Profile" in each e-Newsletter issue by unticking the box “Yes, I agree” placed next to the question “Do you allow us to contact you also with other marketing activities?” or through alternative means of communications provided at the bottom of this Privacy Policy.

HUBER+SUHNER permanently and occasionally hires other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such as website hosting, mailing and sending information about our products, special offers and other services. We will only provide those companies the personal information they need to deliver the service. They are required to maintain the confidentiality of the information and are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose and in any case to act exclusively in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the applicable laws on data protection. We will respect your choice if you choose not to have your personal data send and/or shared to/with such third party. Therefore, we offer you the opportunity to opt-out via the form on our page unsubscribe or through alternative means of communications provided at the bottom of this Privacy Policy.

HUBER+SUHNER safeguards that your personal data are kept and used also abroad in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the applicable laws on data protection.
 

VI. PURPOSE LIMITATION

HUBER+SUHNER will collect, use or disclose personal data supplied by you online only for the purposes disclosed to you, unless the disclosure:

(i)  is a use of the personal data for any additional purpose that is directly related to the original purpose for which the personal data was collected,
(ii)  is necessary to prepare, negotiate and perform a contract with you,
(iii)  is required by law or the competent governmental or judicial authorities,
(iv)  is necessary to establish or preserve a legal claim or defence,
(v)  is necessary to prevent fraud or other illegal activities, such as wilful attacks on HUBER+SUHNER information technology systems,
(vi)  is necessary to protect or defend the rights or property of HUBER+SUHNER and our family websites,
(vii)    is necessary to act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of HUBER+SUHNER employees, distributors, agents, suppliers, customers or members of the public.
If we wish to use your personal data for new purposes, we offer you the means to consent to those new purposes by directly sending you a notification or through alternative means of communication described at the bottom of this Privacy Policy.
 

VII. Children's Privacy

HUBER+SUHNER Sites are general audience sites and do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Therefore, we make aware that no specific steps are taken to protect the privacy of children who disclose their personal data to us.

We may share aggregated site statistics with partner companies.

The HUBER+SUHNER Sites contain links to other websites. HUBER+SUHNER is not responsible for the privacy policies, practices and/or content of other web sites.

HUBER+SUHNER is committed to protecting the security of your personal information. Therefore, HUBER+SUHNER uses technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss or alteration and against unauthorized disclosure or access.

Since we do not collect any highly sensitive data through our Sites, we do not give visitors to our Sites the option of using a secure transmission method to send us their personal data.

All our employees and data processors, who have access to, and are associated with the processing of personal data, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of our visitors’ personal data.
 

XI. Privacy Compliance

Our Privacy Policy is compliant with the following instrument: Swiss Law of June 19, 1992 on Data Protection (DPL) and Swiss Ordinance of June 14, 1993 on the Swiss Law on Data Protection (ODPL).

In order to demonstrate that our Privacy Policy accords with the above privacy and data safety instruments, we are voluntarily committed to an external IT-security and data protection audit. Furthermore, we are subject to supervision by the Swiss Data Protection Commissioner.
 

XII. Enforcement of this Privacy Policy

If you have questions or comments regarding this Privacy Policy, you should contact HUBER+SUHNER. If you do not receive acknowledgment of your inquiry, or if your inquiry is not satisfactorily addressed, you should then contact the Swiss Data Protection Commissioner at www.edsb.ch to resolve your concerns.
 

XIII. Access to personal data

With regard to personal data we may hold about you, you can ask us by sending an e-mail or through alternative means of communication described at the bottom of this Privacy Policy whether we are keeping personal data about you.

Upon reasonable request, which you can indicate by sending an e-mail or through alternative means of communication described at the bottom of this Privacy Policy, we will provide you within reasonable time with a readable copy of the personal data which we keep about you. Therefore, we may before require proof of your identity. We will provide such information without any charge.

We reserve the right to refuse to provide our visitors with a copy of their personal data, but will give reasons for our refusal. We do, however, allow you to challenge our decision to refuse to provide you with a copy of your personal data by contacting the Swiss Data Protection Commissioner at www.edsb.ch.

We allow you to challenge the data that we hold about you and, where appropriate, you may have the data erased as well as any inaccuracy rectified, amended or completed.

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will also revise the “last updated” date at the top of the Privacy Policy. For material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you either by placing a prominent notice on the home page of our Sites or by directly sending you a notification.
