Anti-capillary cable for Jaguar Land Rover

Anti-capillary cable for Jaguar Land Rover
If cables in the engine compartment are not completely sealed, fluids can cause technical defects in the electronics or sensors of road vehicles. To protect the AdBlue dosing system in its diesel vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover Limited relies on barrier-sealed and silicone-free anti-capillary cables by HUBER+SUHNER.

Products in the engine compartment of road vehicles come into contact with a variety of different fluids, from engine oils, through cleaning agents, to condensate. This means that cables often need to be sealed in expensive and time-consuming processes, unless the cable itself provides a barrier to liquids.

In barrier-sealed anti-capillary cables by HUBER+SUHNER, a grease-like filling material prevents fluids being conveyed through the cable due to capillary action, and then going on to damage electric devices and sensors at the other end. " We had potential technical issues with capillary action of the wires in our SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system” said Jonathan Goodacre, Project Engineer, EDS Components Team at Jaguar Land Rover. "We were therefore looking for a product that reliably solves the problem of the capillary effect in cables”, Goodacre continued.
Silicone-free protection for the AdBlue dosing system
The SCR system consists of a catalyst, an AdBlue injection unit, an AdBlue tank and a dosing control unit. AdBlue, an aqueous urea solution, is injected into the exhaust pipe in a controlled way by this system. The chemical reaction this induces ensures that harmful nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas is bound and almost completely eliminated. The SCR system in Jaguar Land Rover diesel vehicles thus reduces emissions to a minimum, without adversely affecting the performance of the vehicle.
The anti-capillary cable by HUBER+SUHNER now enables barrier-sealed connections within the SCR system. It is a silicone-free product that also solves another problem that can arise in AdBlue handling. "Contact between AdBlue and silicone can cause foam in the core," said Steve Foster, Sales Manager at HUBER+SUHNER. "At the moment we are the only supplier of silicone-free anti-capillary cables which barrier-seal the core without this undesirable effect – and over the entire length, not just at the ends of the connection."
Other connectivity solutions for Jaguar Land Rover
Jaguar Land Rover has worked with RADOX® battery cables by HUBER+SUHNER for years. The entire portfolio of anti-capillary cables is now extending the scope of supply with immediate effect. Tier 1 Jaguar Land Rover suppliers such as Delphi, Leoni and Lear, are now required to work with these products as a mandatory condition. Following this release, other RADOX® battery cable cross-sections were approved. HUBER+SUHNER has therefore once again been able to successfully position itself on the market with premium quality and reliable products.
