National 4G/LTE coverage in Switzerland
Faced by a rapid increase in mobile data traffic, Swiss mobile operators have modernised thousands of antennas and upgraded to 4th generation mobile communication. Many of these antennas are equipped with components from HUBER+SUHNER.

Due to the rapid proliferation of devices such as smartphones and tablets, coupled with a range of new applications, the demands placed on the mobile broadband network are increasing. To create the necessary capacities (with far higher bandwidth), Swisscom has expanded its mobile communication network and introduced new LTE technology. By the end of June 2014, Swisscom was already able to supply 4G/LTE to around 94 per cent of the Swiss population in urban and rural areas.

Connecting up to 6 remote radio heads efficiently
Products from HUBER+SUHNER are being used for the current upgrade. Various Swisscom sites have been equipped with the MASTERLINE Ultimate hybrid cable system. This system includes copper as well as fiber optic cables and supplies electricity to the remote radio units while also transmitting data to the base station. Up to 6 remote radio units can be connected via easy-to-install jumper cables.

Easily and quickly installed
The robust connector head is attached directly to preassembled adapter plates on the cell tower with a single click. The plug-and-play cable system, which supplies the antenna with data and power, is connected to the active components after installation, and data transmission can begin. Since the ultimate hybrid cable system consists of a single cable, it can be installed efficiently and quickly. To meet specific customer needs, the cable is pre-assembled to measure and supplied on a drum ready for installation.

Surfing at top speed
The 4G/LTE network allows users to surf through the mobile Internet at high speed. Multimedia applications such as video, music and online gaming can be streamed with almost no waiting time and no download interruptions. As a result, the mobile network is not just being upgraded to the 4th generation as quickly as possible in Switzerland, but also in many other countries around the world. HUBER+SUHNER solutions will be used in most of these countries.
Additional Information

LTE (Long Term Evolution) is the fourth-generation (4G) mobile technology for mobile voice and data communications that enables speeds of up to 150 Mbps.
