September saw the start of the pilot phase of a public gigabit Wi-Fi access point on the famous Fan Mile in Berlin, Germany. HUBER+SUHNER is providing Wi-Fi antennas and coaxial cables, thus playing its part in enabling users in the area to surf, chat and stream for free for 30 minutes.

Some applications require on site flexibility because undefined conditions in the field ask for cable length and connector configuration right on the spot, while other scenarios ask for assembly termination after the cable installation (for example, if the cable feedthrough is smaller than the connector dimension). 

Therefore, HUBER+SUHNER offers solutions to terminate microwave assemblies in the field with a tool box that allows easy, quick and solderless cable assembling, without affecting our high product standards.

LSFH cables

The PTFE/FEP cables of our RG/K series are designed for applications up to 200 °C and are characterised by low losses, especially at high frequencies. The Enviroflex cables do not contain fluorine plastics either in the dielectric nor in the jacket and thus provide a robust and environmentally friendly option.

The Enviroflex cable family enables users to quickly switch from fluorine-containing cables to halogen-free alternatives. The materials used in the cable design – both for the dielectric and for the jacket – do not include any fluorine-consisting plastics. The dimensions of the individual cable types are entirely compatible with the international RG standards. Standard connectors can be used without any restrictions with the Enviroflex cable family. HUBER+SUHNER´s control of various key technologies has proven to be an invaluable advantage.

The Spuma product family provides flexible and halogen free cable types and stands for its extremely low loss. With a screening effectiveness > 90 dB over the whole operating frequency range, as well as a tight bending radius, is a wide application range covered. These cables offer excellent electrical performance, especially an outstanding return loss (VSWR). Spuma cables are designed for applications up to 6 GHz and offer great opportunities in applications like industrial, railway, defense and communication.

MASTERLINE Extreme with Q-ODC-2 connectors is an efficient solution in terms of ease of installation, cost and required space on the mast. The compact divider minimises the wind-load and can be fed through small holes (80 mm diameter). The ruggedised push-pull connector Q-ODC allows the installer to connect the RRH jumper cables with a single "click", making it a genuine "plug & play" cabling system. MLE with Q-ODC is available to support up to 12 remote radios.
MASTERLINE Extreme with one Q-ODC-12 connector allows the installer to connect 6 RRH jumper cables with a single "click" and can even be installed through holes with a diameter of 20 mm. The Q-ODC-12 connector has the highest fiber density, based on the proven QN push-pull mating system and can connect 12 fibers in one mating step.

Polatis' highly reliable piezoelectric Directlight® beam-steering technology sets the industry standard for lowest optical loss and highest performance. With more than a billion port-hours accumulated on deployed units, the Polatis technology platform delivers a broad range of class-leading all-optical matrix switch products into demanding applications. At the core of Polatis optical switches is our patented DirectLight beam-steering technology that makes connections using compact piezoelectric actuators to align collimated beams of light from opposing arrays of input and output fibers with minimal loss, distortion or interference between paths. Alignment is maintained using feedback from integrated position sensors to ensure connection stability over time, temperature and external disturbances.
