Sensors and sensor cables

Autonomous driving within a factory building is commonplace today. But as the features of such vehicles get more and more complex, so do the sensors required for these features.

HUBER+SUHNER provides a wide portfolio of products for such applications, ranging from flat-panel metalised-plastic antennas feasible for distance radars (sensors) to highly-specific shielded high-temperature cables used for connecting sensors.

Solutions used in these applications are typical highly-customised configurations of products. A large number of technologies and processes available within HUBER+SUHNER allow us to implement the best possible technical and commercial solutions for our customers.

Related Products

Foam radio frequency cables

The product series Spuma, S and SX provide lowest attenuation, high flexibility and optimal shielding. Products from the Spuma series are similar to the LMR® products from Times Microwave. The series with LSFH jacket material and the radiation crosslinked SX series with the RADOX® jacket offer extremely high flame protection.

S cables

S cables

HUBER+SUHNER low loss coaxial cables with foamed PE dielectric have been carefully designed for excellent electrical performance focusing on low loss, high velocity, high power and low VSWR. These flexible coaxial cables feature greatly improved cable bending characteristics, which make them ideal for use in limited spaces and where multiple bends are required. Ideal for use in critical antenna system applications.

Spuma

Spuma

The HUBER+SUHNER Spuma product family stands for lowest loss with halogen free materials. Shielding and VSWR are optimised up to 6 GHz. The cables are more flexible than corrugated ones, allowing easier handling and installation. Tight bending radii are possible. With this set of features, Spuma can support a multitude of application in various industries, including railway, defense, communication, instrumentation and others. Spuma products can also be used as drop-in replacement for LMR® (LMR® is a brand of Times Microwave Inc.).

SX cables

SX cables

HUBER+SUHNER cross-linking technology in combination with low loss dielectrics makes this product portfolio outstanding. Cross-linking allows the maximum application temperature of polyethylene to be increased from +85 to +105 °C. This extended range covers most applications. It allows operation in a higher power range, and connectors with soldered inner conductors can be easily applied.

Performance radio frequency cables

The PTFE/FEP cables of our RG/K series are designed for applications up to 200 °C and are characterised by low losses, especially at high frequencies. The Enviroflex cables do not contain fluorine plastics either in the dielectric nor in the jacket and thus provide a robust and environmentally friendly option.

Enviroflex series

Enviroflex series

The Enviroflex cable family enables users to quickly switch from fluorine-containing cables to halogen-free alternatives. The materials used in the cable design – both for the dielectric and for the jacket – do not include any fluorine-consisting plastics. The dimensions of the individual cable types are entirely compatible with the international RG standards. Standard connectors can be used without any restrictions with the Enviroflex cable family. HUBER+SUHNER´s control of various key technologies has proven to be an invaluable advantage.

RG/K series

RG/K series

HUBER+SUHNER high temperature coax cables are designed for applications up to 200 °C, depending on the material selection of the cable. Cable types out of this portfolio provide lowest loss especially at high frequency thanks to PTFE dielectric material.

Special radio frequency cables

Some products cannot be allocated in any of the three main lines. They are consolidated in the speciality cable line. It includes special designs like odd impedance, twinax or triax cables. A selection of low-noise coax and triax cables is also available. Cables with special qualification, for instance in accordance with railway norms like EN 45545 or in accordance with UL are also listed in this section.

Low noise caox and triax cables

Low noise caox and triax cables

HUBER+SUHNER low noise coax and low noise triax cables are developed for sophisticated signal measurements. The low noise technology with semi-conductive layer for the transmission of weak analogue sensor signals, mostly of high impedance, are used in various applications.

Triax cables

Triax cables

HUBER+SUHNER triax cables consist of an additional outer conductor which is usually used for power supply or grounding purposes of any devices. Apart from that, the extra outer conductor represents a second shielding layer and increases the shielding effectiveness.

Formable microwave cable assemblies

In applications with limited space, formstable and pre-bent cables and assemblies make life easier by facilitating quick and convenient installation with stable and repeatable quality. They come with either a tubular outer conductor, ideal for customised configurations, or a tin soaked braid, perfect for individual hand form routing.

Thanks to its 100% solid outer conductor, the products stand out from commonly braided cables by providing superior RF shielding, outstanding VSWR and PIM performance.

Sucoform

Sucoform

Sucoform microwave coaxial cables offer distinct mechanical advantages over semi-rigid cables. They are based on the same design as the standard PTFE insulated semi-rigid cables, but have a tin-soaked copper braid for the outer conductor, giving them outstanding hand-formability. These cables combine the excellent characteristics of semi-rigid cables with those of flexible coaxial cables. Thanks to their small bending radii, they allow space saving routing and packaging.

Cobra-flex

Cobra-flex

Cobra-flex is a high performance semi-rigid cable which utilise a seamless outer conductor to provide excellent RF shielding. The convoluted design gives this cable excellent phase tracking characteristics over temperature due to minimal dielectric migration. These cables are offered with many options including tin-plated outer conductor, copper clad steel centre conductor for low thermal conductivity in cryogenic applications.

Semi rigid

Semi rigid

The semi-rigid cable is unique in that it is easily bent to finished shape and still maintains its set after bending. This property makes it ideal for use with automated bending equipment as well as hand forming by bending tools.

Databus cables

Providing cables that reliably transmit ever increasing volumes of data while meeting demaning market requirements is the greatest challenge for cable manufacturers. For this purpose, HUBER+SUHNER has included databus cables in its product range for different markets.

HUBER+SUHNER combines extensive expertise in data communication with electron-beam-cross-linked material technology. The databus cables developed in-house (pre-terminated on request) provide reliable solutions for use in high-temperature applications and harsh environmental conditions. The databuses fulfil the requirements of different markets due to their excellent mechanical and electrical characteristics.

120Ohm

Fiber Optic cables

HUBER+SUHNER offers a wide range of fiber optical cables, optimised for fix or mobile applications at indoor and outdoor areas. Due to new market demands innovative products are developed and tested in accordance with international standards, which fulfil high mechanical and thermal conditions as well as fire requirements.
