Radio Frequency components used in the Wi-Fi hotspot on the Fan Mile in Berlin

September saw the start of the pilot phase of a public gigabit Wi-Fi access point on the famous Fan Mile in Berlin, Germany. HUBER+SUHNER is providing Wi-Fi antennas and coaxial cables, thus playing its part in enabling users in the area to surf, chat and stream for free for 30 minutes.

Linking of train coaches using antennas instead of cables reduces the service requirement when disconnecting coaches. These antennas must resist adverse environmental conditions. Wireless bridging is usually based on WiFi communication standards.

For in-carriage applications, passenger safety is the main criterion. Besides offering high performance, our products are also fire retardant and use low toxicity materials (in accordance with NF-F-16-101 and 102, DIN 5510-2, BS 6853 and EN 45545-2).
Omni-directional as well as directional antennas are available in small form factors with different colours, connectors and mounting options.

Both, vertical-polarised and dual-slant versions are available. Basically the design is ready to support N, TNC, SMA, QN and QMA interfaces either in the 2.4 GHz or in the 5 GHz frequency-band.
