Radio Frequency components used in the Wi-Fi hotspot on the Fan Mile in Berlin

September saw the start of the pilot phase of a public gigabit Wi-Fi access point on the famous Fan Mile in Berlin, Germany. HUBER+SUHNER is providing Wi-Fi antennas and coaxial cables, thus playing its part in enabling users in the area to surf, chat and stream for free for 30 minutes.

High power TVAC testing

High power TVAC testing
Simulating the conditions found in outer space presents unique challenges to all components tested inside the thermal vacuum chamber, due to exposure to vacuum and extreme temperature variations. HUBER+SUHNER offers a wide variety of TVAC compatible products to withstand not only the temperature and vacuum conditions, but also provide outstanding performance at high power levels.
Our TVAC compatible products are manufactured with parts and materials that comply with the levels of ECSS-Q-ST-70-02 and NASA reference publication 1124, which references to a maximum Total Mass Loss (TML) of 1% or Collectible Volatile Condensible Material Level of 0.1%

Positively vented connectors allow a stressless flow of air into and out of the cable assemblies during the pressurisation or depressurisation cycles.

Fluoroloy loaded connectors
HUBER+SUHNER brings a comprehensive list of fluoroloy loaded connectors available for high power applications. Fluoroloy has a higher dielectric constant (compared to standard Teflon dielectric), but also a higher rate of thermal conductivity which allows the heat that is generated in the center conductor to transfer the outer conductor more rapidly, thus increasing the power handling capability of the connector.
  • Fluoroloy dielectric is available as an option on all our connector types, if required to comply with the application’s power levels
  • For multipaction sensitive applications, we offer pre-potted connectors and adaptors, where a special potting material is added through the connector body to fill any air gaps in the connector to prevent multipaction.
