NGR - next generation rack

Designed in collaboration with installers and operators, the NGR incorporates many features not possible when using conventional 19" cabinets and splicing panels. For example, the NGR is only 300 mm deep and its "c-shaped design" allows unrestricted access to all internal elements from the front side. This not only reduces installation and servicing time, but offers customers the opportunity to position NGRs back-to-back for double density within a 600 mm standard footprint. In addition, the c-shaped design also allows cables to be patched from the NGR directly to adjacent switch equipment without the need to enter the raised floor void or overhead containment system. This reduces CAPEX and OPEX especially in small POP stations in which only a few racks are located.

HUBER+SUHNER’s NGRs are configured using modular and scalable sub-racks. This "building block" approach offers maximum flexibility with the option of matching fiber upgrades with customer take-up rates. Termination modules support all connectivity types and offer a wide array of applications in a single generic footprint so that one product covers all existing and future customer requirements.

NGR accessories

NGR accessories

NGR accessories offer spare parts and upgrades for the NGR rack. All accessories can be added retrospectively in the rack.

NGR3 – microduct management

The NGR3 offers room for extra cable management and can be fitted beside an NGR9 for patching applications.

The NGR9 (Next Generation Rack) distribution cabinet was designed as an open ETS-frame (C frame) for managing passive optical components. With a standard height of 2200 mm, the NGR has a capacity of 1920 fibers using telescopic fiber tray units. Specific installations such as the break-out termination unit (BTU900) or the customer termination shelf (CTS) allows optimal expansion to all known network conditions. An integrated, easy-access patch cord management facilitates patch cord over length within the NGR. Due to its compact dimensions of 300 × 900 × 2200 mm, this distribution frame excels in applications where small to  medium-sized fiber density is required, such as FTTH POP stations. Because of its flexible C-shape design, scaling up the NGR to higher densities can be achieved by side-by-side mounting.
