Radio Frequency components used in the Wi-Fi hotspot on the Fan Mile in Berlin

September saw the start of the pilot phase of a public gigabit Wi-Fi access point on the famous Fan Mile in Berlin, Germany. HUBER+SUHNER is providing Wi-Fi antennas and coaxial cables, thus playing its part in enabling users in the area to surf, chat and stream for free for 30 minutes.

While the configuration of the mobile networks of the future will be in some aspects more centralised to increase deployment, operational, RF spectrum and processing efficiency, centralizing also means more bandwidth is needed in the access network.

HUBER+SUHNER is able to increase this bandwidth either with active WDM solutions or with passive ones. This optimises the existing infrastructure while at the same time increasing the flexibility of how those existing fibers are utilised.

HUBER+SUHNER Cube Optics has specialised on optical wavelength division multiplexing. We offer all types of optical muxes, ranging from simple Wideband WDM over Coarse WDM to Dense WDM. We are able to combine the different WDM grids and/or cascade several muxes in order to create optimal solutions suitable to each customer’s needs.

We are very much aware, that each customer has a specific background and therefore a unique network architecture. In order to suite individual needs, we have products that are aimed for point to point or ring deployments (OADMs), that mix and match specific lambdas of different grids or use band splitters in order to allocate more than one wavelengths to certain locations.
