Network Monitoring

The introduction of all-optical switching to C-RAN architectures enables the sharing of centralised monitoring and test equipment across multiple optical fiber fronthaul links interconnecting RRHs and BBUs.

All-optical switch
The Polatis all-optical switch is an out-of-line network element that enables fiber monitoring via passive optical taps. It can switch fibers between test and monitor equipment remotely, in milliseconds, independent of protocol, data rate or colour , in real time to diagnose existing or potential network issues without interfering with user traffic. With all-optical switching, any optical connection can be remotely monitored and tested and can be configured to switch automatically based on reduction, or loss, of the optical signal.

Optical Switches

Polatis' highly reliable piezoelectric Directlight® beam-steering technology sets the industry standard for lowest optical loss and highest performance. With more than a billion port-hours accumulated on deployed units, the Polatis technology platform delivers a broad range of class-leading all-optical matrix switch products into demanding applications. At the core of Polatis optical switches is our patented DirectLight beam-steering technology that makes connections using compact piezoelectric actuators to align collimated beams of light from opposing arrays of input and output fibers with minimal loss, distortion or interference between paths. Alignment is maintained using feedback from integrated position sensors to ensure connection stability over time, temperature and external disturbances. Switching occurs completely independently of the power level, colour or direction of light on the path, enabling pre-provisioning of dark fiber and avoiding concatenation of switching delays across mesh or multi-stage switched optical networks. Polatis optical switches are fully non-blocking and available in sizes from 4x4 to 384x384.

Optical switch series 3000

Optical switch series 3000

The Polatis Series 3000 family of multimode optical switch trays utilises the DirectLight beam-steering technology, delivering high performance in a compact, fully non-blocking, multimode product. The Series 3000 multimode switch can form the integral part of a resilient network, for connection management in a business continuity setting or as part of a shipboard communication system. Since there is no regeneration or signal monitoring and no signal modulation is introduced, the Series 3000 is a secure node for carrying sensitive communications. With its low loss, very high repeatability and low crosstalk, the Series 3000 multimode is a perfect fit for testing of fiber Channel and GigE interfaces as part of an automation strategy. Available in both symmetric (NxN) and asymmetric (MxN) port configurations.

Optical switch series 6000

Optical switch series 6000

The Polatis Series 6000 Optical Switch is a high-performance, fully non-blocking all-optical matrix switch available in sizes from 4x4 up to 192x192. It is designed to meet the highest performance and reliability needs of the most demanding applications with exceptionally low optical loss, compact size, low power requirements and fast switching speeds. With support of Software-Defined Networks (SDNs) via an embedded OpenFlow and NETCONF control interfaces, the Series 6000 enables extremely low latency for time-critical traffic required for new virtual cloud services in hybrid packet-optical data centers. The Series 6000 is based on Polatis’ patented DirectLight® optical switching technology that has been proven in the most challenging data center, telecom and defence applications and is also used by major network equipment manufacturers to automate testing of optical components and subsystems.

Optical switch series 7000

Optical switch series 7000

The Polatis Series 7000n Network Optical Switch is the largest-capacity, highest-density, highest-performance and most reliable non-blocking all-optical matrix switch available in the industry. The Series 7000n 384x384 all-optical circuit switch is designed to meet the most demanding applications with exceptionally low optical loss, compact size, and fast switching speeds. With support for Software-Defined Networks (SDNs) via embedded OpenFlow and NETCONF control interfaces, the Series 7000n can route time-critical traffic with very low-latency to enable new virtual cloud services in hybrid packet-optical data centers. The Series 7000n is the latest addition to the Polatis product line of optical switches and modules, creating the broadest portfolio available of dynamic fiber cross-connect solutions (from 4x4 to 384x384), all built on the Polatis' patented DirectLight® optical switching platform that has been proven in the most challenging data center, telecom and defense and test applications for over a decade.
