Dear Sir or Madam

The broadcast and media sector continues to place increasingly larger demands on the network infrastructure manufacturers, particularly as high quality digital media content becomes very much the norm. Flexibility is critical to broadcasters. Total reliability is crucial for content on demand and specially for live events. Delays or downtime are not accepted by the audience.

To handle the subscriber management, the thriving streaming and download business, satellite and terrestrial broadcast as well as other media organizations’ needs, it is required a wide range of connectivity options, to  cover from the high density equipment rooms to the outdoor and harsh environments. Safe connections wired and wireless ensure the ability to securely store, archive and then offer instant access to vast amounts of content from anywhere in the world, at any time of day for large numbers of viewers.

The trend of larger digital files will only continue as video quality moves from standard HD to 4K and 8K ultra HD and beyond. This creates unprecedented need of upgradeable high speed networks that can be quickly expanded as demand increases. These networks must be ready to transfer massive amounts of data around the planet now, as well as when new technologies arise and popularize.

HUBER+SUHNER supports the Broadcast industry with high quality solutions for indoor and outdoor applications, whether the need is for optical systems or for radio frequency technology. Always having the best connections in mind to bridge the gap between broadcast and broadband.

HUBER+SUHNER strengthens position in its core market WAN / Access Networks with the acquisition of the BKtel Group

HUBER+SUHNER signed the purchase agreement to acquire BKtel on September 30, 2019. BKtel has three locations in Germany and holds majority participations in two companies in France and Japan. With 150 employees, the company generates sales of around CHF 45 million. BKtel develops, manufactures and implements active and passive components for broadband networks and has extensive expertise in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), hybrid fiber coax (HFC) and distributed access architecture (DAA) as well as optical signal processing (optical converters, amplifiers and fiber lasers).
Combining low loss with high flexibility
Combining low loss with high flexibility

The current cable selection is always a trade-off, with consumers having to choose between lower loss (solid wire) or more flexibility (standard wire). HUBER+SUHNER has developed a two-in-one solution, enabled by its patented rotary swaging technology. It allows the combination of the advantages of solid and stranded wire into one product: a low loss, phase stable and flexible inner conductor cable with a long lifetime. More about the technology can be read in our latest white paper.
Speeding installation with SMP Self-Lock connectors
Speeding installation with SMP Self-Lock connectors

Cost-effective, robust and providing dependable connectivity for aerospace, defense and industrial applications, the newly launched SMP-SL connector is designed to speed installation with a secure locking mechanism that prevents accidental loss of connection. The innovative design provides a visual inspection feature to verify full mating engagement, intended to reduce installation and inspection time during systems integration.
