Product compliance is a crucial aspect of modern manufacturing and product development. At HUBER+SUHNER, we are committed to adhering to relevant product compliance regulations, standards, and requirements as well as fulfilling legal obligations.
We expect our suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure that all products, articles, processes and services provided to H+S meet the current legal and regulatory requirements in the supplier’s production or shipping country, as well as H+S’s customer requirements, especially concerning restricted, hazardous, and prohibited substances. Suppliers must also comply with all relevant environmental standards.
REACH
Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals is a European Union regulation that aims to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks posed by chemicals. It obligates manufacturers and importers to register and assess the safety of chemicals they produce or sell. Additionally, it restricts the use of substances of very high concern (SVHC) and requires their communication along the supply chain. According to REACh regulation, HUBER+SUHNER is a downstream user. H+S products are defined as “Articles“ under REACH Article 3(3) and we ensure that these are placed on EU market in compliance with REACH EC No 1907/2006 regulation.
The updated list of SVHC’s as published by ECHA may be accessed here:
Notify the presence of SVHC if concentrations exceed 0.1% by weight and provide safe use information.
Submit the SCIP (Substances of Concern in Products) Notification Number ensuring compliance with waste management regulations under the EU Waste Framework Directive.
Inform the HUBER+SUHNER at least two years in advance of the “Sunset date”, if the supplied substances are listed in ANNEX XIV
Not provide articles containing substances listed in ANNEX XVII
Register the SVHC substances when imported into the European Union
We also adhere to the requirements of substances in articles stated under Article 33 (1) of the regulation i.e., articles containing Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) above 0.1% w/w.

Restriction of Hazardous Substances (Directive 2015/863/EU and subsequent amendments) is an European Union Directive which restricts the use of 10 substances. This regulation affects all manufacturers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment in the EEA (European Economic Area).
In its production, HUBER+SUHNER processes the conflict minerals tin and gold. In this regard, the company is mapping its supply chain using the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) of the Responsible Minerals Initiative. Suppliers must adhere to the Dodd-Frank Act and EU Regulation 2017/8821, Swiss Supply Chain Act (Art.9 VSoTr) ensuring that materials do not contain conflict minerals (tin, tungsten, tantalum, and gold) sourced from conflict zones. Suppliers must establish policies and due diligence frameworks to avoid sourcing from conflict-affected areas. Suppliers should complete and submit the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) annually. Additionally, the traceability for the sources of these minerals must be provided.
