The S-series is a line of cost-efficient, low loss microwave cables. It covers technically demanding requirements in a wide range of applications, preferably in fixed installations. These versatile cables are characterised by their very low insertion loss across a wide frequency range. S-series cables are easy to assemble and are made of environmentally friendly, halogen free materials.

Boa-flex I cables utilise a microporous PTFE dielectric for low loss with minimal phase change due to temperature changes and flexure. Typical velocity is 77% of the speed of light. Construction consists of a flat wire braid outer conductor, a metalised polyimide intra-layer and a round wire braid to complete the triple shielded construction. All offer very low loss and are extremely stable with flexure.

Boa-flex III cable is low cost, high performance designs intended to replace standard flexible MIL-DTL-17 cables. This cable has up to three shields. All have a solid core for excellent crush resistance without the need for armour.

Steel-flex cables are lightweight flexible replacements to semi-rigid cables. All utilise triple shields for superior RF shielding, with a solid TFE dielectric for exceptional crush resistance without the need for heavy armour. The flat wire braid outer conductor provides low loss plus excellent insertion loss stability with flexure. The stainless steel outer braid provides improved mechanical pull strength when compared to cables with a copper wire outer braid.

Steel-flex II cables are designed as low loss alternative to Steel-flex I cables. The microporous dielectric provides improved phase characteristics, such as phase versus flexure and phase versus temperature.

Ever-flex

Ever-flex cables were designed for use in ultradurable, high flexure applications such as gimbal assemblies and installations where the cable assembly must endure multiple tight bends and twists. Ever-flex cable assemblies have repeatedly endured 1 000 000 flexure cycles with minimal electrical and mechanical degradation. All incorporate a flat wire outer conductor and a microporous dielectric for low loss and a tight woven stainless steel outer braid for improved resistance to crushing, bending and kinking.

Formable microwave cables

In applications with limited space, formstable and pre-bent cables and assemblies make life easier by facilitating quick and convenient installation with stable and repeatable quality. They come with either a tubular outer conductor, ideal for customised configurations, or a tin soaked braid, perfect for individual hand form routing.

Thanks to its 100% solid outer conductor, the products stand out from commonly braided cables by providing superior RF shielding, outstanding VSWR and PIM performance.

Field mountable microwave cables

Some applications require on site flexibility because undefined conditions in the field ask for cable length and connector configuration right on the spot, while other scenarios ask for assembly termination after the cable installation (for example, if the cable feedthrough is smaller than the connector dimension). 

Therefore, HUBER+SUHNER offers solutions to terminate microwave assemblies in the field with a tool box that allows easy, quick and solderless cable assembling, without affecting our high product standards.

Flexible low loss RF cables
The product series Spuma, S and SX provide lowest attenuation, high flexibility and optimal shielding. Products from the Spuma series are similar to the LMR® products from Times Microwave. The series with LSFH jacket material and the radiation crosslinked SX series with the RADOX® jacket offer extremely high flame protection.

The HUBER+SUHNER Spuma product family stands for lowest loss with halogen free materials. Shielding and VSWR are optimised up to 6 GHz. The cables are more flexible than corrugated ones, allowing easier handling and installation. Tight bending radii are possible. With this set of features, Spuma can support a multitude of application in various industries, including railway, defense, communication, instrumentation and others. Spuma products can also be used as drop-in replacement for LMR® (LMR® is a brand of Times Microwave Inc.).

The flame retardant Spuma cables provide great flame retardancy making the range viable for rolling stock and indoor applications. These are railway approved according to EN 45545-2 and NFPA 130.

Spuma RS FR is the most flexible cable from Spuma family. The patented rotary swaging (RS) technology (low-loss strand) allows to overcome the common trade-off between flexibility and low attenuation. Furthermore, the new TPU jacket material provides flame retardancy without compromising on flexibility.

HUBER+SUHNER low loss coaxial cables with foamed PE dielectric have been carefully designed for excellent electrical performance focusing on low loss, high velocity, high power and low VSWR. These flexible coaxial cables feature greatly improved cable bending characteristics, which make them ideal for use in limited spaces and where multiple bends are required. Ideal for use in critical antenna system applications.

HUBER+SUHNER cross-linking technology in combination with low loss dielectrics makes this product portfolio outstanding. Cross-linking allows the maximum application temperature of polyethylene to be increased from +85 to +105 °C. This extended range covers most applications. It allows operation in a higher power range, and connectors with soldered inner conductors can be easily applied.

Flexible speciality RF cables
Some products cannot be allocated in any of the three main lines. They are consolidated in the speciality cable line. It includes special designs like odd impedance, twinax or triax cables. A selection of low-noise coax and triax cables is also available. Cables with special qualification, for instance in accordance with railway norms like EN 45545 or in accordance with UL are also listed in this section.

Low noise coax and triax cables

HUBER+SUHNER low noise coax and low noise triax cables are developed for sophisticated signal measurements. The low noise technology with semi-conductive layer for the transmission of weak analogue sensor signals, mostly of high impedance, are used in various applications.

HUBER+SUHNER triax cables consist of an additional outer conductor which is usually used for power supply or grounding purposes of any devices. Apart from that, the extra outer conductor represents a second shielding layer and increases the shielding effectiveness.

RF railway cables

RF railway cables

RADOX® RF coax cables are specifically developed for the rail market and are fully compliant with the European rail norm EN45545. Standard RG types can be replaced by RADOX® RF cables from a dimensional point of view while being low smoke and flame resistant due to the RADOX® jacket material. Additional coax railway cables are also available with extra low loss designs.

UL recognised RF cables

UL recognised RF cables

Certain applications require UL recognised cables. HUBER+SUHNER have a selection of RF cables fulfilling the requirements of UL styles 1354 and 3651, respectively. Cables with UL style can be identified based on the UL logo printed on the cable jacket.

CPR qualified RF cables

CPR qualified RF cables

RF cables need to follow the construction product regulation (CPR) when used as fixed installation in Europe. HUBER+SUHNER have a selection of corrugated and flexible RF cables complying with CPR and fulfilling EN 50575. An overview is provided in the RF cables catalogue. The E-catalogue provides a filter allowing to narrow down the selection to products with specific classes.

Corrugated coaxial cables
HUBER+SUHNER Sucofeed product range of foam corrugated coaxial cables offers also suitable connectors and stripping tools. The cables have excellent electrical, mechanical and environmental properties for indoor as well as outdoor installations. They perform optimal shielding, low attenuation, low VSWR, remarkable intermodulation performance and flexibility for handling and installation on sites.

Sucofeed cables are available as made from copper as well as from aluminium. For the US IBC market plenum rated cables are part of our corrugated cable proposition.
