Wired device connections

In the frame of switched-technology networks, the considerable increase of IP addresses on-board trains reflects the increase of on-board devices that are physically connected to the train communication network. Each connected device needs a dedicated physical link to the communication components - the switches - which generally consists of an Ethernet cable terminated with a connector.

HUBER+SUHNER provides Ethernet twisted-pair connectivity that enable interfacing end devices such as CCTV Cameras, Network Video Recorders, Media Servers, Passenger Information Displays, Radio Access points or even Passenger Emergency Intercoms to the on-board network.

Depending on the data rate requirements and the nature of the installation (e.g. temporary or permanent) HUBER+SUHNER provides a variety of solutions:

Solutions for Fast Ethernet connections (100BASE-T)

• Cat5 cables complying with EN 45545-2 fire safety standard
• 4-pole M12 connectors compliant with EN 61373 Vibration and Shock standard

Solutions for Gigabit Ethernet connections (1000BASE-T, 10GBASE-T)

For both Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet solutions, field mountable M12 connectivity provides a high level of flexibility for installation conditions either where cable lengths are not precisely defined or where cables have to be pulled through small openings thus not allowing the use of preterminated assemblies.
