WLAN
280
A dedicated Wi-Fi network is built along tracks to provide reliable broadband wireless networks between trains, stations and along the trackside. This ensures a robust broadband connection to the train.
Components on board
The Wi-Fi signal is converted from the roof-top antenna using a communication gateway and distributed in the form of an Ethernet signal, for example to the various Wi-Fi access points in the train.
Solution
- Roof-top antennas
- Flexible jumper cables
- Low-loss feeder cables
Technical approaches to increasing the data rate:
- Use of MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology
- Communication using various frequency ranges:
- Wi-Fi: 2.4 and 5 GHz
- WiMAX: 2.6 GHz
- Other ISM bands
- Other local frequency ranges
