Extending the HUBER+SUHNER optical network automation portfolio
Advanced technology for wavelength-switched optical networks
Reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs) are used extensively in today’s optical transport networks to allow efficient and transparent all-optical routing of data traffic. Wavelength-selective switch (WSS) devices are key ROADM building blocks that enable flexible, futureproof optical communications networks.
The ROADM Systems team at HUBER+SUHNER is developing highly-integrated wavelength-selective switches that use patented software-defined two-dimensional holograms to steer individual colors of light between optical fibers. These advanced WSS devices will enable equipment manufacturers and service providers to benefit from new optical architectures that enhance ROADM flexibility and resilience, while reducing operator costs through hardware integration and simplified network operations.
