Beat Kälin nominated as President of the Board of Directors
HUBER+SUHNER proposes Dr. Beat Kälin for election as the new President of the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting on 31 March 2015. He has been the President on an interim basis since the beginning of the year.
After the unexpected death of Erich Walser, HUBER+SUHNER decided at an extraordinary Board of Directors’ meeting that Dr. Beat Kälin will continue to fulfil the role as President of the Board of Directors until the Annual General Meeting on 31 March 2015. Additionally, Beat Kälin has expressed his willingness to take over the presidency of the Board of Directors for two years. He will therefore be proposed for election at the Annual General Meeting. Beat Kälin has been a member of the HUBER+SUHNER Board of Directors since 2009 and has been Vice President since 2014.
As a long-term planning, it is intended that Beat Kälin will step down from the role of President of the Board of Directors in 2017. Urs Kaufmann, the long-term CEO and delegate of the Board of Directors, is envisaged as his successor. At this point, he will step down from the operational management and will be proposed for election as the President of the Board of Directors at the 2017 Annual General Meeting.
This seamless succession plan, in compliance with corporate governance, will provide the greatest possible stability in the currently demanding economic environment. Operational management will thus be able to fully concentrate on successfully managing the current challenges. The succession in the Executive Management can also be prepared without any time pressure.
The vacancy on the nomination and compensation committee will be filled by Dr. Peter Altorfer until the 2015 Annual General Meeting. He will also be proposed for election to this committee on 31 March 2015.
