POLATIS is a high-performance optical circuit switch with ultra-stable operation and very low insertion loss. It offers great flexibility in establishing and maintaining a remotely controlled, software-defined fiber optic network topology in support of power distribution systems. In the event of construction work or even sabotage causing a fiber break in the network, the layer 1 optical switch can automatically redirect communications to a protection path which has been provisioned on dark fiber.
