Tappers are widely used in multi-band/multi-operator in-building systems that cover cellular, WiFi 2.4 and 5 GHz, and TETRA security bands. Tappers are available with N and 4.3-10 interfaces.

Coaxial inserts (QLA)

HUBER+SUHNER coaxial inserts 1.0/2.3 are suitable for the insertion of layout connectors DIN 41612 (pattern M). These inserts feature a slide-on coupling mechanism suitable for applications up to 4 GHz.

QLA 00

QLA 00

QLA 00 series contains connectors with a quick latch coupling mechanism: connection is achieved by simply pushing the plug into the jack. Three latching springs automatically engage, thereby securing the mated connectors against axial forces. No twisting action is required. The connectors are easily released by slightly pulling back the outer sleeve of the plug. This coupling mechanism provides a fast and reliable connection for applications up to 1.4 GHz. All connectors of the series QLA 00 are without any restrictions intermateable with Lemo series 00.250.

HUBER+SUHNER QMA and QN connectors have a quick-lock coupling mechanism. QMA and QN are easy to mate and allow a high packaging density because no tools are needed.

HUBER+SUHNER QMA coaxial connectors are in accordance with QLF standard and available with 50 ohm impedance. The frequency range extends to 18 GHz, depending on the connector and cable type. However most of the QMA connectors are return loss optimised for frequencies up to 6 GHz. The interface is based on the SMA dimension but instead of a threaded coupling mechanism a new snap-lock mechanism is used. The QMA interface has a very similar performance to the SMA, but in addition it offers an easier, faster and safer coupling operation, helping customers to save significantly time during production. The packaging density of QMA is increased compared to SMA connectors thanks to the fact that no torque spanner is required to fasten the coupling nut. QMA is not intermateable with SMA. QMA connectors are also available as waterproof version (IP68) and are compatible with QLF standard.

QMA eXtreme – XQMA

QMA eXtreme is the advanced version of the waterproof QMA, combining the quick-lock mechanism and waterproof properties also in rough environmental conditions. The coupling mechanism is completely waterproof and not only the RF signal path, thus protecting the connector from corrosion in a salty atmosphere and from freezing in case of high humidity and low temperature.

Besides the outstanding characteristics of the quick-lock connector QN, this advanced version has some extra features. The coupling mechanism is completely waterproof and not only the RF signal path, thus protecting the complete connector from corrosion in a salty atmosphere and from freezing in case of high humidity and low temperatures. This extra features besides the excellent PIM performance (typical -162 dBc) and the optimum power performance (≈350 W by 2 GHz) makes this connector the ideal solution for antenna connections.

However, at frequencies up to 1 GHz the small impedance deviation is negligible for practical applications. HUBER+SUHNER cross-linking technology in combination with low loss dielectrics makes this product portfolio outstanding. Cross-linking allows the maximum application temperature of polyethylene to be increased from +85 to +105 °C. This extended range covers most applications. It allows operation in a higher power range, and connectors with soldered inner conductors can be easily applied.

HUBER+SUHNER miniature gas discharge tube protectors are designed to protect against NEMP (Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse) and other electromagnetic interferences. The special design guarantees an excellent dynamic protection performance. It includes a fixed integrated gas discharge tube. Miniature GDT protectors have a bulkhead feed-through design and can be easily installed instead of a standard waterproof bulkhead coaxial connector to harden existing equipment. HUBER+SUHNER 3406 slimline protectors provide surge protection for any electronic equipment connected to coaxial lines up to 6 GHz. The gas discharge tube protection principle supports simultaneous transmission of RF, data and DC. The gas discharge tubes are fix integrated. The protectors can handle any induced surge signals but partial lightning current up to the specified current handling capability only. For higher lightning current handling refer to our gas discharge tube (GDT) protector series 3401 and 3402. Multi-carrier applications with high RF peak power and special passive intermodulation requirements are covered by series 3409.

LISA - front access fiber management systems

The LISA front access system is focused on speed of installation and network security during installation or maintenance. The LISA front access system represents a modular group of products that enables seamless connection of passive optical networks especially in central office environments. Reliability and performance are key to the success of our industry which is why we have ensured that the highest level of fiber protection and bend-radius limitation are standard across all front access system solutions. The center piece of the front access system is a unique and versatile compact module that can be used for pigtail, direct cable splicing or for the integration of pre-connectorised passive components such as splitters.

LISA compact modules for MultiCircuit (MCM) applications combine simple installation and maximum security within an optical network. An integrated loose tube storage facility in each module allows easy removal of the splicing machine without disturbing neighbouring modules. In telecommunication environments, the compact module is particularly suitable for simple physical connections between the equipment and the passive infrastructure by means of inter-connect or cross-connect.

BTU - break-out termination unit

The LISA BTU enclosure is a suitable sub-unit for accommodating patch cords, manifold cables or breakout cables such as SMARTLINE or MASTERLINE cables. Pre-terminated and thus factory-tested cable systems allow high fiber count links between the equipment and the passive infrastructure which can be installed on site in a matter of minutes. Breakout cable ends such as SMARTLINE cables can be securely housed in BTUs.

The rack mount slide-out type BTU enables distribution, termination, patching, storage and management in one unit. The BTU supports cross-connect architecture and provides the transmission of the equipment interface in a passive network equipment rack. Each distribution enclosure incorporates a slide-out drawer to allow full frontal access and operation. The distribution enclosures use a fiber guide mechanism which guarantee fiber bend control. Horizontal cable guides are also incorporated on the front of the patch panel to allow the horizontal routing of patch cords. The fiber distribution enclosures can be mounted in standard 19" equipment rack or in the LISA NGR, respectively CDR rack platform.

The CTS splice box is the ideal product for connecting micro-duct systems or loose tube cable installations. With the modular LISA ACS cassette system, the options between SingleCircuit, MultiCircuit, splitter or combined applications are easy to realise. As the CTS is designed as a pure splicing device, it offers the possibility to connect blown-in fibers with cable pigtails in a simple way. A further benefit of the CTS is the hinge system which turns up to the front and allows optimal access to all installed cassettes.

The fiberframe lite is a 19" patch panel made from solid steel which allows the user to splice or patch various cables and cable systems in a standard 1U height 19" frame. It can accommodate up to 24 adapters such as SC simplex, LC/LX.5 duplex. With the latter, a density of up to 48 fibers per 1U can be achieved. The multifunctional back plate allows the user to bring different cables and cable systems into the back of the panel without having to exchange various back plates. A telescopic drawer ensures the access to the back of the connectors and to the splice cassettes. For splice applications, the well-known ACS splice cassette accommodates up to 24 fibers per cassette using either heat shrink or sandwich splice protectors. The cassette allows the user to store fiber overlength neatly and securely within the cassette and the hinge mechanism ensures the access to any cassette without tools.

Each housing is delivered with a mounting kit (M5), Velcro straps and cable ties.

The fiberframe is a 19" patch panel made from aluminium which allows the user to splice or patch various cables and cable systems in a standard 1U height 19" frame. It can accommodate up to 24 adapters such as LC, LX.5, SC and E-2000™. In addition, maximum flexibility is ensured thanks to exchangeable front plates for a wide range of supplementary adapter types. The panel has a density of up to 48 fibers using LC/LX.5/ E-2000™ connectivity and allows the user to bring various different cables and cable systems into the back of the panel, fixed with easy exchangeable back plates. A telescopic drawer ensures the access to the back of the connectors as well as to the splice cassettes and offers a storage area for loose tubes which is separated from the splicing and patching area inside the housing. For splice applications, the well-known ACS splice cassette accommodates up to 24 fibers per cassette using either heat shrink or sandwich splice protectors. The cassette allows the user to store fiber overlength neatly and securely within the cassette and the hinge mechanism ensures access to any cassette without tools. HUBER+SUHNER’s comprehensive range of equipment cabinets is designed to fulfil the diverse needs of the typical data center operator. The cabinet range is based around a common construction of anodised aluminium extrusions which match the innovative CDR passive optical rack system.

CDR - cable distribution rack

The CDR (Cable Distribution Rack) is a purpose-built high density fiber management rack which serves as a central cross-connect in the main distribution area of data centers. With a footprint depth of only 300 mm, the CDR is fully modular and scalable up to 1620 ports (3240 fibers) using LC connectivity and 1080 ports (25 920 fibers) using MTP connectivity. Users can benefit from a C-shaped construction where all internal sub-elements are completely installable and accessible from the front side. This important feature means that CDRs can be placed back-to-back on a single floor tile or alternatively against an unused wall for minimal space consumption.

The CDR is 47U high, 300 mm deep and comes in two standard width dimensions of 900 mm and 1200 mm. The 900 mm version is designed for splicing and MTP-LC furcation trays and the 1200 mm version is intended for patching only, whether it be LC or MTP cable systems.

The cabinet range is based around a common construction of anodised aluminium extrusions which match the innovative CDR passive optical rack system. Available as active, switch, network or cabling variants, all 19" cabinets meet the detailed technical requirements for these environments and focus on adjustability, ease of access, high capacity and mechanical strength.

Racks are equipped with adjustable equipment mounting rails with position indicators, fully bonded in compliance with the requirements of EN50310 and offer easy door and panel removal features that allow full access to the adjustable working areas without the need for tools.

NGR - next generation rack

Designed in collaboration with installers and operators, the NGR incorporates many features not possible when using conventional 19" cabinets and splicing panels. For example, the NGR is only 300 mm deep and its "c-shaped design" allows unrestricted access to all internal elements from the front side. This not only reduces installation and servicing time, but offers customers the opportunity to position NGRs back-to-back for double density within a 600 mm standard footprint. In addition, the c-shaped design also allows cables to be patched from the NGR directly to adjacent switch equipment without the need to enter the raised floor void or overhead containment system. This reduces CAPEX and OPEX especially in small POP stations in which only a few racks are located.

HUBER+SUHNER’s NGRs are configured using modular and scalable sub-racks. This "building block" approach offers maximum flexibility with the option of matching fiber upgrades with customer take-up rates. Termination modules support all connectivity types and offer a wide array of applications in a single generic footprint so that one product covers all existing and future customer requirements.
