Social responsibility: HUBER+SUHNER among the top 10% in the "Manufacture of electronic components and printed circuit boards" sector on the EcoVadis assessment platform
In the most recent evaluation by EcoVadis, HUBER+SUHNER achieved 62 out of 100 possible points across all categories. The company achieved the best results in the categories environment (80 out of 100 points) and sustainable procurement (70 out of 100 points). In its report, the rating company particularly emphasises the goals and measures for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In the sector "Production of electronic components and printed circuit boards", EcoVadis annually examines well over 700 companies worldwide in the categories of environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
HUBER+SUHNER had committed itself to an ambitious CO2 reduction target as early as 2017 towards the non-governmental organisation "Science Based Targets Initiative" (SBT). The company has set this target even higher in 2019. As confirmed by SBT experts, it thus supports the goal of the Paris Convention to limit the rise in the average global temperature to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels. Compared with 2015, HUBER+SUHNER intends to reduce its global CO2 emissions in relation to the added value generated by 50 percent by 2025. So far about a dozen companies in Switzerland have set themselves a CO2 reduction target with the backing of SBT.
"I am very pleased with the good rating of social responsibility as we at HUBER+SUHNER take it," said Urs Ryffel, CEO. "On the one hand, the evaluation reflects what we have achieved so far. On the other hand, as a future-oriented company with a global presence, we feel encouraged to continue along the path we have taken and to assume our social responsibility even more strongly than before".
HUBER+SUHNER has had its sustainability performance assessed by EcoVadis since 2015. At the time, the company had complied with the request of a major customer. In the meantime, a total of around thirty customers from the railway, telecommunications and industrial sectors track sustainability performance on this platform. EcoVadis claims to be the world's largest and most trustworthy provider of sustainability ratings for companies, with more than 65,000 companies evaluated.
