Connected to our costumers: tailored technology and lasting relationships

Being close to our customers is how we build successful solutions and relationships at HUBER+SUHNER.

We serve more than 4’000 customers ranging from global names to pioneering start-ups, across industry, communication and transportation markets. One thing they all have in common is that they value high performance and reliability, in all conditions. But within each market there’s a huge diversity of applications and needs, which is why we’re always ready to tailor our technology for our customers.

A customised solution always begins with a dialogue to understand what our customer wants to accomplish. It’s equal parts asking and listening and led by professionals who know what’s possible. Thanks to our own salespeople and partners on the ground in many countries we make sure we understand the specifications, regulations and conditions that products need to comply with.

Regional hubs

Our principle of being close to the customer drives the fulfilment of orders too. Our manufacturing sites in Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific serve as regional hubs, supplying nearby markets. This local-for-local approach is an advantage because we can respond faster and are less vulnerable to disruptions in global supply chains. It’s more sustainable, due to the shorter supply lines. In some cases, it’s also a pre-requisite to qualify for national projects such as India’s Bharatnet, which aims to extend broadband or wi-fi connectivity to more than 900 million people who live beyond the country’s urban centers.

As these examples show, whether a customer wants data or power connectivity solutions, we can build exactly what they’re looking for.

Made to order

Our work for telecoms customers showcases our agility in answering unmet needs. 450connect was commissioned to build a dedicated 450 MHz radio network to improve the security and resilience of Germany’s critical infrastructure. This low-frequency range requires very specific equipment which can be difficult to source in a market led by the needs of commercial networks. We supplied the antenna technology for a platform that has national importance.

Scalable systems

Our colocation data center customers are constantly adapting to the demands of their customers, so they want the most flexible technology solutions. Managing space is crucial in the design of data center cabling systems, a challenge we know well from decades of working with fiber optic technology. For its new facility in Brisbane, Australia, NEXTDC sought a state-of-the art environment that could also accommodate future growth. Our high-density solution is easy to manage and ready to scale.

Elegance and performance

Customised connectivity is increasingly in demand from rail customers too. Siemens needed a next-generation cabling system to connect the carriages of the Velaro high-speed trains it was supplying to the German national rail operator Deutsche Bahn. A project team from our sites in Germany, Switzerland and Poland worked closely with Siemens to build a new kind of inter-vehicle jumper system for these trains. The design met Siemens’ wish for the system to be hidden from view, which gives the Velaro a unique profile among inter-city fleets.

Relationships that last

Around two thirds of our solutions are customised to specific needs, and a similar share of HUBER+SUHNER’s global sales comes from existing customers. Our ability to craft solutions with precision and speed is why they keep coming back. We are known for building things that last – and that’s true of our relationships with our customers as well.
