Communication, control and measurement network

Power plants and substations must be able to communicate with remote substations and monitoring systems and with the higher-level control centre. To measure high voltages and currents, the cabling must be non-conductive and insensitive to electromagnetic fields. Fiber optic technology meets this requirement in full and is ideal for transmitting data over large distances. HUBER+SUHNER has a wide portfolio of robust cables, cable systems and accessories which are particularly suitable for air and earth installation.
Data is continuously transmitted to protect the power network and its auxiliary systems. Sensors on busbars, mechanical switches, switches and gas-isolated switchgear or transformers constantly send signals. The fiber optics transfers the measurements from the sensor reliably and with almost zero losses for evaluation. Trained personnel can complete maintenance work on the system and remove the fiber optic network independently. The modular, plug-and-play approach significantly reduces the coordination work required for this.
