RF connectivity within devices
Devices are often designed based on multiple boards and modules. This brings several advantages, such as modularisation and higher flexibility in design questions.
Since most devices have wireless or cellular connectivity, or require transmission of high data rates between boards, a highly flexible and low-cost solution for transmitting RF signals between boards and/or building blocks is required.
Eliminating cabling for reducing costs is common in today’s industry; however, this may increase mechanical stress significantly, since in most cases, a solution for a mechanical overdetermined system needs to be provided. To overcome this, whilst continuing to maintain excellent electrical properties, board-to-board connectors need to be employed.
HUBER+SUHNER offers different board-to-board solutions, including MMBX, MFBX and MBX, allowing board-to-board, board-to-panel and board-to-board-through-panel connectivity. This technology brings features such as blind-mateability and large axial and radial working ranges.
In some cases, whether due to larger distances or other reasons, the solution might be required to use cables between modules. HUBER+SUHNER offers a wide range of connectors and cables for these applications. Board-to-board connectors can also be used in conjunction with cable connectors or other small size connectors might also be feasible. For very high performance and low space requirements, there are also cable connectors with bend-to-the-edge technology available.
