Space qualified solutions
HUBER+SUHNER has been delivering innovative passive microwave products in a number of scientific and commercial space projects for the past 15 years. Our innovative products have demonstrated superior mechanical and functional capabilities under the extreme conditions in space. We have developed a number of successful products for a wide range of space applications, which range from low earth orbit (LEO) to geo synchronous orbit (GSO) and also include manned missions and interplanetary unmanned vehicles. HUBER+SUHNER continues to develop reliable, high performance products for the aerospace industry.
HUBER+SUHNER remains the most reliable source of connectivity within the aerospace industry. Thanks to our world-class, on-site testing facilities, we are recognised by our customers as a leader in the areas of Lot Acceptance Testing and Qualification Campaigns. Our testing capabilities are focused on delivering both component level testing as well as module or sub-system testing for simplified system integration by our customers. Our commitment to comprehensive pre-launch, launch and life testing remains a key success factor in our continuous growth within this market.
The SUCOFLEX 300 series cable construction uses ultra-light materials, which enables weight reduction of up to 40% compared with the standard cable assemblies. This weight reduction is possible without sacrificing any electrical or mechanical performance characteristics.
Minibend is a truly flexible coaxial cable assembly with the most advanced feature called bend-to-the-end. This patented, solderless assembly process allows us to achieve an unparalleled bend radius right at the end of the cable entry, eliminating the need for additional right-angled connectors. This feature reduces cost, whilst at the same time increasing flexibility and reliability.
Our spaceflight cable assemblies are manufactured in compliance with the ECSS-Q-ST-70-02 and NASA reference publication 1124, which specifies a maximum Total Mass Loss (TML) of 1% or Collectable Volatile Condensable Material (CVCM) Level of 0.1%.
High radiation resistance
Our spaceflight cable assemblies are available with a number of jacket material options, which meet with the various radiation resistance requirements. Fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) jackets are proven to be resistant to up 30Mrads, whilst ECTE is resistant to more than 100Mrads. Our new ECTFE material is resistant to more than 200Mrad. In addition, all Minibend H series consist of a five shield outer conductor construction to further improve the overall resistance against radiation due to a higher absorption of free electrons.
Minimised Passive Intermodulation (PIM) Interference
Carefully selected materials and optimized designs for our connector and cables are the foundation for minimizing the effects due to passive intermodulation.
