Almost the full range of RADOX® rail cables, including RADOX® data bus cables and RADOX® signal and power cables are used in the trains. They are particularly robust and safe, providing a long service life of up to 40 years whilst also being able to withstand both high and low temperatures (from -50 °C to 120 °C). The cables will be used for almost all of the systems in the trains, such as the power supply for the lights. The trains also feature a modern passenger information system in which the cables are used to transmit the data.
This order follows the official certification of the cables at the end of 2013 as meeting the requirements of the Russian railway market. This certification of the RADOX® rail cable portfolio was a major factor in the decision to select HUBER+SUHNER as supplier. “The project is a milestone for HUBER+SUHNER. For the first time, we have been able to use our foreign-produced rail cables on the Russian metro railway market for the series production of metro trains. Our work toward certification over the past few years and the wide range of tests have been rewarded,” said Alexey Chernychev, Business Development Manager at HUBER+SUHNER Russia.
