HUBER+SUHNER recently had the exciting opportunity to test the fully electric monotrac from Novaziun — a very special occasion for a number of reasons.
Monotrac is a versatile single-axle vehicle designed for year-round landscaping, and its electric power unit is equipped with RADOX® power, signal and ground cables developed at the HUBER+SUHNER headquarters in Switzerland.
However, the demonstration was not just about showcasing RADOX® in the monotrac; it was about seeing it in action at the very place where it was originally manufactured. Witnessing these high-performance cables return to their birthplace to power a new generation of sustainable, quiet, and efficient machines was a powerful reminder of how innovation can come full circle.
Powered by Swiss engineering
With its dual roots in Rueun (Surselva) and Zurich, Novaziun blends a deep connection to nature with access to academic and international innovation. Pairing versatility with efficiency, the monotrac is Novaziun’s flagship innovation, uniquely tailored to manage steep Alpine terrain. Its modular ePowerUnit can be transformed into a snowplough, transport device, or street sweeper using the Bewaloc coupling system to withstand the most rugged conditions.
A silent, vibration-free electric drive eliminates the need for hearing protection, produces no toxic emissions, and offers a comfortable ride-along position, making monotrac a sustainable solution for operators.
The silent strength behind electric innovation
At the heart of this innovation lies RADOX® cross-linking technology from HUBER+SUHNER. Known for its exceptional durability, thermal resistance, and electrical performance, RADOX® cables are more than just components; they are enablers of innovation.
Whether in electric vehicles, industrial machinery, or infrastructure, RADOX® ensures reliable power transmission and signaling, regardless of the environment.
From ETH Zürich to the fields of Zürich
The story of RADOX® and Novaziun is also one of education and long-term collaboration.
Marco Sangklin-Schneider, co-founder of Novaziun, first encountered RADOX® cables during his time at ETH Zurich, where he worked on the SUNCAR Focus Project, a student-led initiative exploring electric mobility and Steer-by-Wire systems.
In 2015, HUBER+SUHNER Automotive supported this project by sponsoring RADOX® cables, giving Marco and his team firsthand experience with its performance and reliability.
“For a machine like the monotrac, which operates year-round in tough outdoor conditions, we need strong and reliable cables that deliver uncompromising performance. That’s why we chose RADOX® cables from HUBER+SUHNER. Our collaboration with HUBER+SUHNER has been instrumental — not just in supplying high-quality components, but in sharing the engineering mindset that drives innovation. It’s this kind of partnership that makes sustainable, high-performance solutions like the monotrac possible.” Marco Sangklin-Schneider, co-founder of Novaziun
Supporting the next generation of engineers
HUBER+SUHNER continues to support ETH Zurich and other universities through material sponsorship, technical expertise, and funding. These focus projects allow students in mechanical and electrical engineering to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios, designing and building electric vehicles from the ground up.
From university labs to mountain trails and city parks, RADOX® solutions are quietly powering the electric revolution. It’s return to Witzberg in the monotrac is more than a technical detail, it is a symbol of how Swiss engineering, academic collaboration, and sustainable thinking can come together to shape a cleaner, smarter future.
